Texas Side Show Wine Freaks Tour 2013

TexasShow12Our motley crew piled into two SUV’s and traversed Texas showing off our wares last week. Traveling with Stolpman Vineyards were representatives from Breggo Cellars, Cliff Lede, Copain Winery, Ehlers Estates, Hahn Family Wines, Jorge Ordonez, Miner Family Wines, Mulderbosch, Regusci, Nine North, and ZD Wines.
TexasShow11How did this rag tag bunch from Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, Monterey, Spain, South Africa, and Ballard Canyon get together? How did what was originally dubbed the Texas Sh!t Show and later toned down to the Texas Side Show come to be?
TexasShow4The Short Story is that we all traveled on the Glazers-Prestige Road Show throughout Texas last year and had so much fun together; we had to do it again. When our distributor announced they didn’t plan to host a show this year; Armen at Ehlers, Sara at Cliff Lede, and Kendra at ZD leapt into action.

The trio hatched a plan to host independent Industry tastings in each of Texas’s major wine markets. They picked some incredible host restaurants for the events: FT33 in Dallas, Paggi House in Austin, and Underbelly in Houston.
TexasShow3Apart from pouring, trying one another’s wines, and yes, selling some in the meantime; we also got the chance to dine together, and in Austin, hang out till the wee hours watching live music at Continental Club, a simply marvelous venue!

TexasShow14Perhaps the highlight of the trip was an early morning stop at Smitty’s BBQ in between Austin and Houston. Never have I been in such a paralyzing food coma so early in the morning. Thank God we still had a long ride to Houston to recover (and thank you, Sara, for driving that leg!).
TexasShow7Traveling with a rowdy group of passionistas is certainly some of the most fun I’ve had selling Stolpman wines! Thank you, Texas, for a warm welcome and a great time.
Back home I’ve recovered from the road-trip, Sashi is ready to bottle the upcoming April releases, Ruben is in the middle of pruning the vineyard, and we’ll even plant a few new vines! More on those exiting developments coming soon!
