Let the Ballard Canyon ROAST Begin!

I started throwing little parties out under the Oak tree the year after I graduated Georgetown. I wanted to bring my East Coast friends out for a reunion and share with them the magic of the Vineyard. Everyone was blown away and I realized how much I enjoy showing people the natural beauty of Ballard Canyon.

As I’ve gotten older and the vineyard has evolved into a polyculture of rotating organic produce, legumes, rye, olives, and wheat; a whole new level of farm-to-table entertaining has unfolded. We can now provide a bountiful feast grown and raised organically on our land.

With our good friend Clark, owner of Full of Life Flatbread, we tested how far we could take a true farm-to-table meal last year. We enjoyed freshly roasted whole goats, veggies and flat-breads alongside Stolpman Sangivoese and Nebbiolo made by Sashi, Palmina, and Santa Barbara Winery. We’ve been eagerly awaiting another chance to tow Clarke’s 6 ton adobe wood oven back out to the vineyard.

Now that we’ve applied for the Ballard Canyon AVA, we’ve decided to make this year’s Feast a block party of sorts by inviting five of our neighbors to pour their wines alongside Stolpman including Beckmen, Harrison-Clarke, Jonata, Jorian Hill & Rusack!

We know the wines will be great, and we’ve elevated the cuisine to new heights as well. Ruben has raised organic Lambs this year and the Full of Life Flatbread team will roast the best cuts. Jacob Grant of Roots Organic Vegetables planted an amazing array of lettuces as well as veggies for grilling. If all of that wasn’t enough, Sashi’s new boutique bakery, New Vineland, will offer loaves of fresh bread from our Ballard Canyon wheat. Of course, Full of Life Flatbread will be capping the meal off with flat-breads as a delivery mechanism for some home-made lamb sausage.

Perhaps the coolest new development? All proceeds of the event will be donated to People Helping People, a Solvang Charity that helps struggling families to achieve self-sufficiency. We know how incredibly blessed we are to enjoy such a wonderfully diverse and healthy spread and we’re proud to be helping struggling local families so they too can thrive in this beautiful place!

This year’s Feast in the Field will take place Saturday, May 12th @ 1pm, Stolpman Vineyards, 2323 Ballard Canyon Rd, Solvang CA 93441 –  more info/purchase tickets
